A concerned resident recently (January, 2012) came across a posting in our local Chilliwack newspaper, outlining the various herbicides and pesticides that are going to be sprayed throughout the Chilliwack Forest District over the coming years. **(see attached PDF below)**
Proposed duration of this latest “Pest Management Plan” is from Arpril 1, 2012 to March 31, 2017.
While this practice has likely been ongoing for some years, we are now in the process of researching the specific areas in the Chilliwack River Valley that will undergo any aerial spraying in particular. Hikers and others enjoying the CRV may wish to contact BC Timber Sales to identify areas of potential exposure and avoid newly sprayed forests or clear cuts.
When you encounter animals on your back country hikes, please tell the habitat to quickly move along, preferably to the safety of the better protected Washington park to our immediate south, where they will find more distance from such unpleasant hazards.
